Basilica: Simpozion internațional organizat la Atena în memoria Arhim. Emilian Simonopetritul

Institutul „Sf. Maxim Grecul” al Mănăstirii Vatoped și Fundația Ormilia a Mănăstirii Simonos Petra din Sf. Munte Athos organizează la Atena, în perioada 8-10 mai 2026, Simpozionul Internațional de Teologie „Memoria și cinstirea Starețului Emilian Simonopetritul: Martor al slavei lui Dumnezeu și călăuzitor duhovnicesc”.

Evenimentul va marca șapte ani de la mutarea la Domnul a fostului stareț al Mănăstirii Simonoss Petra, părinte duhovnicesc care a lăsat lumii o vastă operă teologică și ucenicilor o amintire plină de dragoste și devotament.

Temele abordate de participanți vor pune în lumină diferite aspecte ale personalității și ale operei Părintelui Emilian Simonopetritul.

Starețul Efrem al Mănăstirii Vatoped și Starețul Elisei al Mănăstirii Simonos Petra, care i-a fost ucenic Părintelui Emilian Simonopetritul, vor deschide evenimentul în a doua parte a zilei de vineri, la Complexul Olimpic Galatsi din Atena.

Lucrările se vor desfășura, în 9 și 10 mai, la Wyndham Grand Hotel din capitala Greciei.

Și-au anunțat participarea cu prezentări și comunicări științifice mai mulți ierarhi: Mitropoliții Atanasie de Limassol, Meliton de Filadelfia, Nicolae de Mesogia și Lavreotiki, Iustin de Nea Makri și Kalamaria, precum și Mitropolitul Sârb Maxim al Americii de Nord.

Li se vor alătura Arhim. Zaharia Zaharou de la Mănăstirea Essex, Marea Britanie, stareți și starețe din Sf. Munte Athos, Grecia și Liban, precum și profesori de teologie, între care Athanasios Ghikas, decanul Facultății de Teologie a Universității „Aristotel” din Tesalonic.

Din România și-a anunțat participarea Arhim. Agapie Corbu, egumenul Schitului „Buna Vestire” Almaș din județul Arad.
